Community Supported Herbalism

The Community Supported Herbalism (CSH) Summer Wellness Shares are generous monthly portions of herbal remedies to build your herbal apothecary.  For 3 months (June, July, August) lucky members will partake in the healing powers of plants through fresh herbs, teas, tinctures, wild greens and a variety of herbal delights prepared with love from living, local, wild and organic soils that maintain and support optimal health. Herban Farmacy’s products (creations, brews, medicines, blends,concoctions, compounds) are made by our own hands in small, loving batches.  Each box of herbal medicine comes with an educational newsletter highlighting the cultivation and traditional uses of the herbal preparations for that month.We enjoy knowing our members are creating a local apothecary and pantry that supports their health, supports the health of our earth, and expands their knowledge, their palette and their connection with the plants and local abundance around us.   Thanks for supporting your local herbalists and our green allies!

Choose from  two Share sizes:  Small and Large. The Small (EXPLORATORY) Share is designed for 1 -2 people curious about herbal medicine for$165-$200  sliding scale.  The Large (COMMUNITY) Share is appropriate for a family, community house or an enthusiastic medicinal herb supporter valued at $295-$350 sliding scale.  The Share descriptions below are the minimum TOTAL quantities over the 3 summer CSH months (see below for those specific dates).

Exploratory (Small) Share – Over 3 months, your seasonal wellness share may include the following:
*2-2oz Blends (possible blends include: Elderberry syrup, Immunity blend, Happiness Blend)
*3-1oz simples (such as: Tulsi, Echinacea, or Dandelion)
*3-bulk teas (varies-local and wild-harvested 1- 1.5 oz each)
* salve
* aroma spritzer
* toothpowder
*herbal vinegar
*massage oil
*herbal honey
*educational material from your community herbalists, orienting you to your herbal wellness goodies.
*the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting local business, local and preventative healthcare, sustainable harvesting and creating a connection to your community and mountains

Large (Community) Share- Over 3 months, your seasonal wellness share may include the following:
*2-4oz Blends (such as: Elderberry syrup, Immunity blend, Happiness Blend)
*3-2oz simples (for example: Tulsi, Echinacea, and Dandelion)
*3-bulk teas (varies-local and wild-harvested blends) approx. 3oz
* salve
* aroma spritzer
*tooth-powder
*herbal  vinegars

Cost & Payments
Summer shares are limited and in high demand, so be sure to sign up early!
Pay 100% at the time of sign-up or pay 50% at time of sign up with the balance due at the first pick-up in Jine.   Sign-up is on a first-come, first-serve basis.   The last day for sign-up, with a minimum of a 50% deposit received, Friday, June 14th 2013.  Herban Farmacy can mail your share anywhere in the United States.  Please see the mail order section for details.

What is sliding scale and how do I determine where I fall in the sliding scale range?

You determine the value of these organic hand-crafted medicines.  We are offering sliding scale to support a wider range of incomes.  If you are able to pay more, that is wonderful, for it helps to allow others to pay what is reasonable for them.  Here are some suggested numbers to help.  Annual Income reflects suggested exploratory/community share price

$0-$25,000    $165 $295
$25-$50,000    $170 $310
$50-$70,000     $175 $325
$70,000+    $185 $350

Re-fills
There will be an opportunity to purchase refills of your favorite herbal medicines if we have the additional quantity in stock.  Please inquire through info@herbanfarmacy.org.  Discounts are offered for bringing your own bottle.  Times can be arranged for refills and we can offer them for you at pickup time.  Currently, we also offer products at Dobra Tea.

We look forward to days where every town offers herb shares, and until that day we will happily ship to folks outside of Asheville.   Please inquire through info@herbanfarmacy.org  with your location and any other questions.  Please note there are additional fees for shipping.  A shipped exploratory share ranges from $200-$235 and a shipped community share ranges from $330-385.  These prices include your packaging and shipping fees for a delivery once a month during the share season (total of 3 shipments).
